About 4.55
Billion years ago, earth was formed. Granite was one of the first rocks that
came from the molten lava. For the next 4 billion years, Granite would form
into mountains and other natural structures. It wouldn't be until about 200
million years later that the first dinosaurs would roam the very rocks we use
today. In 3600 BC man would start to take advantage of the superb building
quality of the stones on earth. Around that time, the Maltese Temples were
constructed. These temples are the oldest man made structures in existence. In
about 2500 BC the construction of Stonehenge began.
The site was
subsequently abandoned and rebuilt between 2100 BC and 1800 BC. Over the next
5000 years, man would use natural stone in Temples, Castles, and Monuments all
around the world. It's no surprise that the 10 most traveled man made wonders
were built using natural stones. (
Pyramids of Egypt - Great Wall of China - Taj Mahal
- Machu Picchu
- Bali - Angkor Wat - Forbidden City - Bagan Temples & Pagodas
- Karnak Temple
- Teotihuacán ) These are
just a few of the great structures created by man. Other building materials
will come and go, but natural stone will always stand the test of time. Marble is a rock
widely used in buildings, monuments, and sculptures. It consists chiefly of
calcite or dolomite, or a combination of these carbonate minerals. Marble is a
type of metamorphic rock formed from limestone. Marble is found in many
countries, including Belgium, France, Great Britain, Greece, India, Italy, and
Spain. Key Benefits
